Obituary of Margaret Thorne
Margaret “Peggy” Lucey Thorne, a decades long resident of Katonah ,NY died peacefully on December 17 in the Westchester Medical Center. Peggy was born in Boston, MA and raised in River Edge, NJ and Hamden, CT. She graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT and Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. She earned her MA in Education at the University of Illinois.
Peggy was a special education teacher since graduation from college.
For the last 25 years she taught in the Ridgefield CT Public Schools, where her dedication, kindness and warmth touched the lives of many children.
Following her retirement, Peggy did volunteer work at the Katonah Women’s Civic Club and Neighbors Link in Mt. Kisco and she enjoyed many activities including gardening, bridge and her book group.
A loving wife and mother, Peggy is survived by her husband Jimmy and her sons Jeremiah and Tommy. In addition, she is survived by 5 siblings, Moira, Patty, Don and Jere Lucey and Donna Lucey Wiencek and three nephews.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, December 21 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd, Katonah, NY from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Valley Rd, Katonah Saturday December 22 at 10:00am with Peggy’s brother-in-law: Fr. Tom Thorne, presiding.
Interment will follow at St Peters Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
In lieu of flower contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to either:
