Obituary of Yolanda Rita Catena

Somers, NY - Yolanda Rita Catena passed away peacefully on March 3, 2019.

She was born to Albert and Conceglia (Parella) Rossi on April 24, 1928. “Yolie” will be dearly missed by her son, John and son Carmine, his wife Janet and her grandchildren Jessica Ann and Gregory.

She is survived by her supportive and caring sisters, Beatrice, Lydia, Marie, her brother Albert, as well as being blessed by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Carmine and her late sister Dolly.

Yolanda worked for financial institutions and in hospital administrative offices. She was a valued employee at Montefiore in Wakefield for nearly 40 years. She suffered a life changing stroke 20 years ago which robbed her of her motility, but not her perseverance and strength. Her laughter was contagious and her memory was nothing short of astonishing. She was smart, always a lady and she enriched the lives of those around her.

She bravely fought pneumonia to the very end, until the Lord ended her struggle and provided her with much needed peace.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 8th at 10am at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10589.
