Obituary of Roy W. Hermansen

Roy W. Hermansen,

 Longtime Bedford resident, Certified Financial Analyst ~ Church Parishioner

            Roy W. Hermansen passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 3, 2019.  He was born on July 5, 1939 to Lauritz and Ruth Hermansen in New York, New York.  He graduated from Bronx High School of Science.  Roy held degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics from Lehigh University and a MBA from Columbia University.  He married Marilyn Y. Ormsby in the Middlebury Congregational Church in Middlebury, CT on August 22, 1970. 

            Roy had been responsible for institutional assets as a plan sponsor, external manager and consultant.  He served as partner of Capital Market Systems, executive vice president of Mellon Universe Management Group, director of portfolio development at Continental Group, Inc., and as a security analyst specializing in technology stocks at a major investment counseling firm.  He co-authored two books Active Asset Allocation:  Gaining Advantage in a Highly Efficient Stock Market and Index Your Way to Investment Success.  Roy was a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR). 

            As a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Roy spent more than forty years of involvement with the Finance Committee and was Chairman of the Investment Committee. 

            Roy is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, their son Eric and daughter Susan, her husband Terrence and seven adored grandchildren ~ Timothy, Allison, Madeline, Amy, Cecilia, Roxanne and Tyson. 

            Not only was Roy compassionate and caring, he was an avid reader and educator.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. 

            The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 am at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford, NY

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts in Roy’s memory be given to the Bedford Presbyterian Church
