Obituary of Clare McGarry

SOMERS - Clare McGarry, nee Doyle, passed away on June 17, 2019. She was a strong supporter of the Irish community, as a dedicated member of the Emerald Association of Putnam County, and the Irish American Social Club of Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties. Her joy of life and religious devotion was well-known and appreciated by so many.

She was born in the Bronx on August 26, 1933, to a large, Irish Catholic family. She is survived by her loving life partner John Glynn, brothers Paddy and Kevin Doyle; children Tara Phethean (husband David) of Pleasantville, NY, and Katherine Realbuto (husband Steve) of Somers; and cherished six grandchildren: Diana and Elena Phethean, and Sean, Brian, Dylan and Colin Realbuto, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Michael Joseph McGarry, her son, Michael John McGarry, her siblings, Mary Elliott, Margaret St. George, William Doyle, James Doyle and John Doyle, and her grandson Michael Realbuto.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
