Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Egan Dorsett

Mary Elizabeth Egan Dorsett

Dorsett, Mary E., “Betty” 88, of Lincolndale, NY, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Waterview Hills Nursing Center.

Betty was born on October 23, 1932 at Northern Westchester Hospital to the late George D. and Mary Leonard Egan. She grew up in Lincolndale and was a graduate of Somers Central School, Syracuse University and the Grace Downs Air Career School.

Betty was an Engineering Assistant with AT&T, Long Lines Engineering Dept. in White Plains, NY and was the former Owner, Manager and Operator of the Katonah Answering Service, which grew under her direction to over 150 businesses.

On October 4, 1958 she married John D. Dorsett of Katonah, NY. She is survived by one son, George L. (Cheryl) Dorsett of Alexandria, VA, and two daughters, Mary D. (John) Byrne of Pawling, NY, Elizabeth A. (Greg) Repp of Somers, NY and five beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Byrne (John) Wagner, William Byrne, David Dorsett, Robert and Jack Repp. She was predeceased by one son, John D. Dorsett, Jr. in 2007.

An aviation enthusiast, Betty was a charter member of The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR) and contributed to their Amelia Earhart project.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10589.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Route 202, Somers, NY.
