Obituary of Irene Duskin

     Irene Duskin passed away on June 12, 2021 after a long battle with Dementia.
Irene was a Mexican, French & German woman from an old historic family, raised in Benson, Arizona. She was one of 8 children, survived by her brothers Frank and Rudy Ohnersorgen. She met her husband of 60 years, Ken Duskin during the Korean War when he was stationed at Fort Huachuca in South Eastern Arizona. They fell in love which was a struggle in the 1950’s for a Mexican Catholic Woman and a Jewish Man from Brooklyn, NY. They eloped on May 1st 1954 in Bisbee, Arizona, and she moved across the country to an unknown world, to Brooklyn, NY. A culture shock into a Radio Days/ Neil Simon type family dynamic. She was extraordinarily courageous and brave and she never looked back. She went on to have a fantastic life moving to a 1700’s Farm House in Somers, NY, where she raised her family. She traveled around the world with Ken, who became a legendary Mad Man in the advertising industry, and with her children, to places such as, England, France, Italy and Japan, among others. One of her favorite places was Amagansett, NY with its beautiful beaches and time spent with family and friends. Irene and Ken shared their exquisite Somers home with many for holidays and fun celebrations, always with room at the table for anyone who needed it. Irene is survived by her loving family, her three children Cathy Duskin (Stephen Vernarelli), Chris Duskin (Claire Duskin), Victoria Brennan and Son-in-Law Michael Brennan, along with her adoring grandchildren, Cole Brennan, Isabella Brennan and Ascher Brennan. She taught us to love and we will all carry her on in our hearts. May she rest in peace and her spirit soar! As Lead Belly sang in one of Ken’s favorite songs.. Irene, Goodnight… Goodnight, Irene…I’ll see you in my dreams

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.
