Obituary of Kathyleen M. Arena
Kathyleen M. Arena, “Kathy”, 77, of Katonah, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, surrounded by her family at Northern Westchester Hospital.
Kathy was born on January 28, 1944 in Norwalk, CT to the late Henry and Viola Smith. Kathy grew up in Newtown, CT where she graduated high school.
Kathy has been a resident of Katonah for the past 57 years, and is the beloved wife of James Arena, Jr. and is the loving mother of James Arena, III (Gina) of Purdys, NY and Teresa O’Hagan (Thomas) of Purdys, NY. Kathy is the devoted Nana of Casey Arena, Jessica Arena, Victoria Boquin (Juan), Amanda LeDonne (Nicholas), Jaime Arena, Brian O’Hagan, Elizabeth O’Hagan, Emma Arena, Michael Arena and Great-Granddaughter, Aria Boquin. Kathy is predeceased by her grandson, James “Jimmyboy” Arena. Kathy is survived by many siblings, nieces, and nephews and dear friends. Her children and grandchildren are the highlight of her life, and just the discussion of any one of them brought a smile to her face.
The residents of Katonah know Kathy as “Kathy from the bank,” as she worked as a bank teller at Chase Bank in Katonah until her retirement in 2016. Her daily walking journey from Cherry Street to Valley Road to the bank and home paved the way for the need of sidewalks and crosswalks on this route. An offered ride was surely refused unless the weather was a problem. Everyone knew Kathy as a sweet, loving, kind soul with a constant smile and warm greeting.
Kathy lived for our Lord and was a committed parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Katonah, where she proudly served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her belief in her faith is unwavering and the family is assured that she is at peace in God’s arms.
Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 5 to 8pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption RC Church, 55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 10:00 am.
