I am heartbroken to hear of Rachel's passing. I had no idea. I was drinking my morning tea out of the Rockefeller University cup she gave me and thought it had been way too long since we had spoken. My Google search, unfortunately, led me here. Rachel was a very close friend many years ago when we were at Columbia together. She was a fixture in our home for Christmas every year (with her pinkie and the brain slippers that my children adored). She made the best tabbouleh. And she was beloved.
We moved away and over the years lost touch. But I have thought of her at least twice every week when I pull out my mug. Rachel and I shared tea and understanding for each other for years. And I was hoping that now my children are grown and on their own paths that maybe we could do that once more. We love you, Rachel.

I have known Rachel all of her life- of course- we were first cousins. Although as an adult our geographic distance-limited our visits, my memory of her beautiful smile and love for blogging is an image I will hold on to forever.
I remember my last visit with her while I stayed with my Uncle Ed and Aunt Marti (her parents). We spent the day walking around museums and I enjoyed listening to her explain everything to me. Rachel was very knowledgeable about alot.
One thing she loved was blogging. We sat down together in the evening while she taught me how to blog. I knew nothing about it so her effort to teach a newby was always appreciated and never forgotten. We talked alot the day i visited about personal issues, confidential information she knew i would never reveal to anyone
I miss you Rachel, i wish we spoke more often. Thank you for the limited but cherished memories I hold tightly close to my heart. You were an a adorable tiny baby and beautiful adult inside and out.
I think about you often. I am sad your life was cut so short.
