Obituary of Alfred J. Albano, Jr.
Alfred “Fred” Albano, Jr., 92, was peacefully led home to the Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from his home in Glen Mills, PA.
Fred was born in the Bronx NY on July 24, 1929 to the late Alfredo Albano and Pasqualina “Lina” (Andretta) Albano. He lived in Yonkers, NY, and from late childhood in Bedford, NY where he and his wife Dora raised their family before moving to the Philadelphia suburb of Glen Mills, PA in 2007. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Katonah, NY, St. Francis College (University) in Loretto, PA and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. During his years in Bedford he was a longtime owner of Albano Electric, Inc. in Pound Ridge, NY. and was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church where he served on the Parish Council and lent much time and expertise to caring for the parish facilities.
Fred was best known for his sense of humor, and outgoing personality. He enjoyed making close, personal connections with whomever he came in contact, and was always a favorite with the nurses during his hospital stays. He was an artist, leaving his family a legacy of beautiful oil paintings, as well as artistic talent evident among his grandchildren. Fred’s idea of bliss was fishing with a friend or grandchild, and he spent many happy hours on Lake Naomi near his vacation home in the Pocono Mountains. Fred was much loved for his gentleness and patience. He will be greatly missed.
He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Dora (Lagomarsino) Albano; the loving father of Dianne Siemon (John) of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Albano (Ellen) of Charlottesville, VA, Donna Osmon (Michael) of Drexel Hill, PA and Arlene Fagans of Wake Forest, NC; the proud grandfather of Dana Siemon Scarpino (John), JT Siemon, Timothy, Nicholas and Deanna Osmon, Weston and Allison Fagans; and happy “Great-Pop-Pop” to Liliana Scarpino. He is brother to the late Salvatore “Ted” Albano (the late Anita), Mary Lou Paulli (the late Paul) and Lucy Ann Burke (Robie) and is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins with whom he shared many close, happy times.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 28 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY from 5 - 8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 29 at St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford, NY at 11 am.
