Please except my deepest Condolences for the passing Of Richard. We played many games of pool down in the basement of the fire station with Joey, Johnny Peloso, Richard Rave, Bill Schelling and so many I don’t remember all there names . This was back in the late 60’s and I also shared an apartment with Richard and his Older Brother whom I worked with at Engels Gas Station but have forgotten his name at the moment. The apartment was on the same side as the fire station past the Hardware store just before Lower Trinity Pass.
Sorry for your loss

I had the honor of working with Dick over a 30 year
period. We shared a wonderful client family. I
learned a lot from Dick about integrity, honesty and fairness.
His work ethic was exemplary at all times. His can- do attitude was inspiring. My sympathy to Anne and his cherished family.

I am heartbroken at the news of Dick's passing. I worked with Dick at the Town House while he was Supervisor, I had a great deal of respect for him, and was honored to be part of his staff. He was one of the best bosses I ever had, always showed such confidence and faith in me, and always tried to elevate and expand my position within his administration to something he felt was more suitable for me. In 2013 when I moved to Pound Ridge and began working for the Town, Dick asked me if I wanted the job as secretary to the Conservation Board, and I have done that job ever since.
But most importantly, Dick gave me the gift of the most incredibly encouraging words when I was faced with the uncertainty of a life-threatening illness. He told me "This is a fight you're going to win." These words repeated in my head a million times, they gave me strength and hope and meant so much to me, and I am grateful I had the opportunity to tell him that. I will never forget these words or the man who said them to me.
Heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Lyman and family, the Town shares in your loss. Dick leaves a massive void in Pound Ridge, but his memory and legacy will live on, and his spirit will linger. RIP Dick, you will be missed. Thank you so much for your support, it meant the world to me.

Dick will be greatly missed by his many friends from The Mattawang Golf Club in Belle Mead NJ. He was onsite 28 years ago and was the main force in transferring the club to it's current day set up. From the construction of the clubhouse to every aspect of the operation, his leadership and guidance over the years was always direct, positive and for the best of everyone involved.
Every employee who spent time around Dick in those 28 years walked away with the same positive feelings, a throwback who thought out every situation and helped lead everyone to the best outcome. With sincere thanks and the upmost admiration!

Our hearts are heavy with a deep sense of loss. Dick was an honest, direct, moral, courageous and caring person. His actions and interactions were guided by these precepts. He lived every day trying to make the lives of his family, friends, acquaintances and strangers safe, secure, healthy and fulfilling. DIck had many accomplishments to advertise but was never boastful. He was the epitome of an all-around decent human being. We thank him for his friendship and love him for all that he contributed to our lives. We will miss him dearly.
Anne, Brooks, Christian and Sean -- Thank you for sharing Dick with all of us. We hope that knowing how much Dick meant to people will bring you some measure of comfort.

Yesterday, we lost an ICON, Pound Ridge lost a hero and I lost one of my closest and dearest friends. Richard Lyman, the former Town Supervisor, was a results oriented, roll up your sleeves, what's next, get it done leader. He didn't listen to the naysayers....HE JUST GOT THINGS DONE. Dick was a mentor to me in so many ways and one of his lasting legacies is the creation of the NEW DAWN Advocacy and Resource Center for victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault. So much history in Pound Ridge is connected to Dick. So much love in Pound Ridge is connected to Dick. This community has lost a leader who got it done for nearly a half century. I will miss my dear friend and mentor. A man who put others before self. A man who loved the town that he called home for his entire life. Thank you for your life of unselfish service to a community that will remember your name forever. You are now part of the history you knew so well and we will miss you, your wit, your wisdom and certainly your moustache. I love you my friend. RIP. It's your time to rest now.
