To the Kunhardt family,
Please accept my deepest sympathies. My mother, Helmi Huhtala, used to work for Edith when the family lived in Smithtown/Nissequgue back in the early 1960s before the family moved to the Boston area. I played often with Linda and Kenneth. Christopher was just a baby. The one thing that knowing the family gave me was a love of the operetta The Mikado which played on the children’s small record player in their upstairs bedroom. This has grown to a love of the real operas in New York. Also a love for large Beech trees. One grew in their yard and, as children, we would climb up the accessible limbs and just have fun. The children were learning French in the Harbor Day School and that also had an influence over what language I chose to study. When my mother was flown to their new home, I went with her and on the Clark estate bounced for the first time on a trampoline! Eventually, I bought one for my children on Long Island. So, in ending, I would like to thank you all for the influence you had on my life.
Fondly,
Irene Huhtala Eriksson

We met Edie 27 years ago at a community dinner in Recloses, a village in France so dear to her heart with its comforting memories of her childhood and adult life. Almost every summer since, and during a visit in spring for the daffodil festival, we shared many happy moments of friendship. We are so fortunate to have crossed Edie’s path and through her we have met many of her family and friends. Edie was a remarkable lady, determined, generous and warm, young at heart, curious and interested in a wide range of subjects including art and music. She loved adventures. She was also keenly interested in the well being and future of others, including young people. Edie loved her home in the States but also her home in Recloses with it’s garden filled with colour and the perfumes of roses and wisteria. Edie was a lot of fun. She will be sorely missed.
Thank you Edie. May you be at peace, warm and happy in the glow of the Lord’s Light.
Our hearts go out to Edie’s cherished family. May God also shine His Light on all of you and give you courage and strength. May your loss be lightened, at least a little, by family love and love and comfort received from neighbours and friends.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Susan, Yves-Antoine, Ariane and Marc Emmanuelli.
Recloses, France.

Our heartfelt condolences.
