Obituary of Marianne T. Shipley

Marianne T. Shipley "nee McAuliffe", a resident of Somers, NY formerly of New Paltz, passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Marianne was born on Long Island on September 12, 1938 (Holy Name of Mary Day) to Jeremiah & Marian McAuliffe "nee Donlon".

She married her soulmate Peter E. Shipley (from Oceanside, NY) and shortly thereafter moved to the Hudson Valley where they raised three children, sending them to Most Precious Blood Catholic Grammar School and Wallkill High School. 

Marianne was dedicated to her faith and an active member of Most Precious Blood Parish (Walden, NY) and later St. Joseph Parish (New Paltz, NY) where she was a member of the Rosary Society and a CCD teacher for many years.  She worked in the library at SUNY- New Paltz and was a popular employee there for 30 years.  She was a talented artist and loved to paint.  Among her other interests was travel, particularly to Ireland, Canada and Maine.

Marianne was predeceased by her parents and younger brother Jerry McAuliffe as well as by her husband of nearly 60 years, Peter (in April 2020). 

She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Burns "nee Shipley" (Bill), Donna Kelly "nee Shipley" (John) and cousin, Tim McNamara (Patricia) as well as eight (8) grandchildren: Mary & Anne Burns, Lauren, Margeaux, Philip, Matthew, Nicholas & Genevieve Kelly.

Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00pm  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (Bedford, NY) on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
