Obituary of Robert T. Richardson
Robert T. Richardson of Somers, NY passed away Saturday morning July 23, 2022, at home in Heritage Hills, Somers NY.
Bob was born April 13, 1930, in New York City to parents; William Arthur Lee and Agnes (nee Sherman) Richardson and grew up in New Rochelle, NY.
Bob was blessed with the extraordinary love and companionship of his late wife Luella (nee Crocker) Richardson for 63 years. He is survived by his 3 children: William Lee Richardson (Lea Carmichael), Linda Salatino (Vincent Salatino), and James Webb Richardson. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren (who lovingly referred to him as “Bob-bob): Colin and Thomas Richardson, Annie Lee, Nicholas and Peter Salatino, and Malcolm Richardson. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Willa, Jordan and Ketsana.
He attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA.
After high school he attended Yale University and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Organic Chemistry and worked in the chemical industry for 50 years.
Bob was a truly unique, remarkable and independent human being. He was adored by all who crossed paths with him. He had an artistic nature which found its best expression in his love for the outdoors and especially in gardening. He spent 35 years designing and caring for his property “Eagle Rock” where he created gardens that would become a masterpiece in beauty and tranquility from a blank canvas.
He was a passionate lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan since he met Stan Musial on a NYC subway when he was 12 years old.
He and his wife Luella were avid bridge players spending most weekends playing and socializing with their many friends.
He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
