Obituary of Elaine Kelleher
Elaine Kelleher was a 50 year resident of Katonah, NY and passed away at her home surrounded by family after a brief illness on Saturday, August 13.
She was born on June 14, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ to Florence and Maurice Leahy and attended St. Dominic’s High School and Seton Hall University where she trained as a special education teacher, ultimately receiving her master’s degree and beyond. She was a teacher for 30 years and retired from her position at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES in 2005.
Her vocation was the education of young people. She was a communicant at St. Patrick’s in Bedford and taught religious education for 10 years. When she retired from teaching she turned to the raising of her 5 grandchildren and she is lovingly known as “Mooma” to her family and friends. She was at every school and sporting event she was physically able to attend.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William L. Kelleher of Katonah, her sister Sr. Michael Maurice of Caldwell, NJ and David Leahy (Kara) of Wenonah, NJ. She is also survived by her 3 children, Erin (Eamonn) O’Donnell of Katonah, Laurie (Ryan) Archer of Bedford Hills and William Kelleher Jr. of Katonah and 5 grandchildren-Michael, Katherine, Kevin and Joseph O’Donnell and Julianne Archer. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shannon Kelleher in 2000.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday 8/17 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Clark Associates Funeral Home , 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 8/18 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s RC Church, Bedford, NY
Internment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Mt. Kisco.
