Obituary of Donald P. Taylor

Taylor, Donald (Don) P. age 85 of South Salem, NY. Born August 22, 1930 to the late William E. Taylor and Ervilla P. Taylor died Saturday morning July 2, 2016 after a brief struggle with Parkinson Disease. Don spent his life serving his country, community, church and family. Don served in the Navy during the Korean War where he met his late wife Clarice Taylor (nee Steinke). Don was honorably discharged in 1955 after achieving the rank of Electronics Technician 2nd class. Don returned home and became a police officer with the Lewisboro town police for 22 years rising to the rank of Chief. Don also joined the South Salem Fire Department in 1947 and was past President, Ex-Captain and life member of 69 years. He was also Deacon and Elder in the South Salem Presbyterian Church, Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge, Mt Kisco, member of the Lewisboro Lions Club, as well as visionary and co-founder of the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Don provided for his family as an electrician being a member of IBEW local 501(now local 3) for more than 65 years. He also worked for the Metro North Railroad from 1978 – 1989. Don is survived by his three sons, D. Patterson (Lori) of Mims, FL, Paul H. (Jane) of Newtown, CT and Daniel E. (Michele) of Carmel, NY; four grandsons – Ryan, Nicholas, Paul and Sean, one granddaughter – Cady, his good friend and companion Carol Lascari of Cross River, NY and his brother Robert Taylor of Mt. Vision, NY. All are welcome to join the family in the celebration of his life on Friday July 8TH , 5 – 8 PM at the South Salem Fire Department, 1190 Route 35, South Salem, NY 10590. Funeral service Saturday, July 9th 11AM at the South Salem Presbyterian Church, 111 Spring Street, South Salem, NY 10590. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Salem Presbyterian Church, South Salem Fire Department and Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp 777 Route 35, Cross River, NY 10518
