Obituary of Americo J. Ascenzi

Americo “Rico” Ascenzi, loving husband, father, and grandfather, 92, of Bedford passed away on October 27th, 2022.

Rico was born July 20th, 1930 to Dominick Ascenzi and Julia (Fanilla) Ascenzi in Mount Kisco, NY. At the age of 18, he served in the US Army as a soldier until 1950. From then he started his career as an auto mechanic for many years until he changed professions to an oil burner service technician until his retirement at age 57.

In 1952, Rico married Lillian (Perez) Ascenzi who was the love of his life until her passing in 2008. They went on to have three children; daughter, Valerie (Ascenzi) Xifo, and sons, Thomas Ascenzi and Michael Ascenzi [Jamie]. Rico was surrounded by many beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Brian, Kathryn [Justin], Thomas, Gabriella, Michele, John, and great grandson Pierce.

Rico was predeceased by his parents, granddaughter Jennifer, son-in-law Gary Xifo, and daughter-in-law Jacqueline (Ruvolo) Ascenzi. He will be remembered by his sister, Rita (Ascenzi) Finch, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others.

During Rico’s life he found great enjoyment by working with his hands and could fix anything. He could either be found in his garden harvesting fruits and vegetables or working in his garage on cars. He also loved to go clamming on the Long Island Sound with his friend, Joe. Rico was an avid Yankee fan and when he finally chose time to relax at the end of the day he would be sitting in his favorite chair watching the game. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and would take them to the park. One of his favorite places to be was Cape May, NJ where he would vacation with Lillian or his children and grandchildren. Rico was greatly loved by friends and neighbors and would always provide a helping hand to those who needed it. He will be greatly missed.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30th from 2:00 -6:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Graveside Service and Burial will be on Monday, October 31st at 10:00 am at St. Francis Cemetery, Lexington Avenue, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.
