Obituary of Herman Facilla
Herman A. Facilla of Pound Ridge, NY, formerly residing in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 1, one day short of his 97th birthday.
Herman was born Armando Facilla on January 2, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY to Donato Facilla and Filomena Carolla. Growing up of modest means during the Great Depression, he pursued his love of math and chemistry through high school and college and translated it to the textile industry. He spent his first five years training in New Bedford, Massachusetts. After returning to NYC, it was clear he had a talent for colors and developing formulas to attain exact color matches. He quickly rose to the top of his industry, eventually opening his own textile operation, Contemp Processing Inc. in Jamaica, NY, which he ran for 30 years. His work was his passion, but in his free time he enjoyed ballroom dancing with his long-time love Frances Treppiedi. When he finally retired, he devoted his retirement to his family and world travel with Frances.
Herman is the beloved father of Sandra Cordiano (Pound Ridge, NY) and Daniel Facilla (West Dover, VT). He is the devoted grandfather of Kathryn Cordiano Rader (Boston, MA) and Jessica Cordiano (Columbia, CT) and great grandfather of Ellie Alessandra Rader, born on Herman’s 97th birthday, January 2, 2023.
Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd, Katonah, NY on Thursday, January 5th, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
