Obituary of Rita Del Franco

Rita Rose DelFranco died Monday, February 1, 2023 at the age of 93. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Heritage Hills, Somers New York.

Rita was born on July 10, 1929 in Manhattan, NY and grew up in Manhattan and the Bronx. The daughter of Maria and Ciro DelFranco and the third child of four, she is predeceased by her sisters Giovinna, Flora and Rose. They were close during their lives, and she missed them but was patient. A faithful believer in God, she knew they would all be reunited in heaven.

Rita graduated from high school and immediately began a career at New York Life Insurance Company in Manhattan. Always diligent and hardworking, she rose from an entry level position to become the first female Senior Vice President in the company. It was a great accomplishment in the days when women did not usually rise so high in the corporate world.

Rita never married and had no children of her own; but she loved children and they knew it. Considered the Pied Piper and the fairy godmother of so many, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren including but certainly not limited to Joseph Caivano of Lindhurst, NY, his wife Maryann and children Joseph Michael and Peter; Mary Gammer of Carmel, NY, her husband Jon and children Kristine and Katherine; and Christopher Caivano and Gina Rose Caivano both of Mount Vernon, NY. She was a beloved aunt to all.  She also leaves behind numerous friends, some of whom she has known for more than fifty years. She was that kind of person. All were welcomed, all were included, all were loved. She knew it would be returned tenfold and it was.

Rita had a wonderful, blessed life and was always grateful for it. She had family, friends, a career and travel and she loved it all. Now she is happy and at peace. Always and forever in our hearts, she will be sorely missed. Our tears are for ourselves.

The family will recieve friends on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 1:00pm to 5:00Pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Robert Imbelli at St. Joseph RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
