Obituary of George E. Graniero, Sr.
George Edward Graniero 94, passed away peacefully February 19, 2023 at Menorah Park Nursing Home in Syracuse, NY.
Until moving to Syracuse last year, George was a lifelong resident of Bedford Hills, NY.
George was born a first generation American, March 14, 1928 to Michael and Assunta (Salvia) Graniero.
George graduated from Bedford Hills High School then served his country in the Army Medical Corps as a medic during WWII.
He volunteered with the Bedford Hills Fire Department as a teenager serving his community for an amazing 76years.
George married his beloved Della Crandall April 29, 1951. They built their home at 19 Crescent Terrace where they raised their three sons.
George spent many years working as a barber in his shop on East Main Street in Mount Kisco, NY.
The boys remember their parents spending many hours attending multiple baseball and football games which they later also did for their grandsons. George was an avid New York Yankee and Giants fan passing the love of the teams down through the generations.
He and Della led a full lives; concerts at Caramoor and Tanglewood, ski trips in the East and out West, hiking many of the National Parks, travelling to Italy, but most of all they loved their time spent at their vacation home on Cape Cod.
George was predeceased by his wife Della in 2014 and his brother Joseph in 2013. He is survived by three sons; Michael (Lisa) of Manlius, NY, George Jr. (Margaret) of Katonah, NY and Douglas (Jennifer) of Boulder CO; Three grandsons; Marc (Alexandra) of Mahopac, NY, Jeffrey (Meghan) of Brewster, NY and Samuel (Kandice) of East Syracuse NY. Two great-grandchildren; Audrey and Marc Jr. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Graniero and one niece and several nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. There will be a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM on Saturday February 25, 2023 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Kisco.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bedford Hills Fire Department, Bedford Hills, NY
