Obituary of Florence O. Holliday

Holliday, Florence Ogostalick, 98, of Mount Kisco, NY died March 2nd 2023 at Northern Westchester Hospital.

                 Florence was born on July 16, 1924 in Summit Hill, PA. After her father, a Polish immigrant, died in a coal mine explosion, the family moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Florence graduated from Girl’s High, and Bellevue Nursing School. While working at Bellevue she met her husband, Dr. Robert Holliday, who would later be credited with performing the first open-heart surgery in Westchester County.

                 While working as a busy housewife, Florence found time to graduate with a B.A. from Hunter College, and an M.P.A. from Pace University. She would later work for the New York Department of Health in New Rochelle.

                 Florence enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Larchmont Yacht Club, and Shattemuc Yacht Club. She was a long-time patron of the New York City Ballet, watching performances well into her 90s.

                 She is pre-deceased by her husband Robert, and daughter, Dr. Ellen Holliday Azzaretti. She is survived by her sons; Robert Jr. and Joseph, grandsons; Lawrence and Gregory Azzaretti, and great-grandchildren; Charles and Emery. Florence is the sister of Mary, 96, Dorothy, 94, of Douglaston, NY and brother of Edward, 86, of Palos Verdes, CA. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.

                 Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah, is carrying out the wishes of the family. A service and celebration of Florence’s life will be announced later this year.
