Ms. Nick basically saved us after a year of totally baffling Pre-Calc under the tutelage of a Russian instructor who wasn't really able to explain anything she was teaching us, so we were constantly confused and resigned ourselves to memorizing formulas without knowing what they meant (an allergy on the part of most Brearley girls). Enter Ms. Nick, senior year, BC Calc. She was such a straight shooter and tough, but so funny--she would always joke around with us once she knew we were on the right path with the math part. After that first year of pre-calc, I never imagined I would make it through that class; because of her, I ended up excelling and doing well enough on the AP that I never had to take math again (she might not love that plot twist, but I am eternally grateful). She was able to lay everything out for us in such a clear, straightforward way.
