Obituary of Susan E. O'Malley
Susan O’Malley, 64, of South Salem, NY formerly of Bronx, NY, died on Sunday, October 15th, 2023, at home in her sleep.
Susan was born on November 26th, 1958, in Bronx, NY, the third child of the late Edward Pérez Sr. and Irmgard (Mohn) Pérez. Susan grew up in the Bronx, NY and was a 1981 graduate of York College in Jamaica Queens, NY. Susan received her B.S. in Medical Technology and worked in the microbiology lab at Jacobi Medical Center and Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx.
Susan met her husband Stephen of 40 years at York College while they both waited for the Q44 bus to take them home one day. The couple married in 1983 and soon after moved from New York City to South Salem. Susan left her job as a med tech after giving birth to her first child to raise her daughters full time. Once her children were older, Susan spent 26 years working as a Library Clerk for several schools within the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.
Susan was a warm, compassionate person. She loved spending time with her family, knitting, gardening, baking, reading, and cheering on the New York Rangers (especially her favorite, Swedish forward Mika Zibanejad). She served as a Girl Scout troop leader, a member of the South Salem Presbyterian Church bell choir, and volunteered for countless library fairs and bake sales in the Katonah-Lewisboro community.
Susan is survived by her husband Stephen O’Malley, her daughters Brianna (Jeff Winston) O’Malley and Amanda (Andrew Kotleski) O’Malley, her siblings Ramona Gilmore, Edward (Penny) Pérez Jr., and her nieces and nephews Maria (Anthony, Denver, Sheila) Filardo, Melissa Hartlipp, Elaina Pérez, and Theodore Pérez.
