Obituary of Toby J. Golden

Toby J. Golden of Mount Vernon, NY died on October 21st, 2023 at the age of 91. 

Toby was born on Feburary 29th, 1932 in Manhattan, NY to the late Harry Flato and Esther Margulies Flato

  She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, aunt and cousin.  Although she had a tough childhood as a foster child, she went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Lehman College and was then able to fulfill her dream of becoming a social studies teacher for the NY Board of Education where she finished out her career.

While she was a teacher, she was awarded two Fulbright Scholarships;  one to India and one to Italy.  Some of her favorite hobbies were reading, rug hooking, playing Scrabble and Mahjong, traveling, watching Jeopardy and doing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle.   She experienced great joy in watching her only grandchild grow up and graduate from high school.

     Toby is survived by her son David Golden & his wife Susan Conway Golden from Albany, NY, her daughter Deborah Golden and granddaughter  Perrine Cummings of Pound Ridge, NY,  her nephew, Joshua Golden of Rhode Island, her sister-in-law Maha Golden of Mt. Tremper, NY and many beloved cousins.  She was predeceased by her ex husband and friend, Peter Golden.

     Friends and family may call at Clark's Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at 11:00 am for the service.  Burial to follow directly after at the Pound Ridge Cemetery, Pound Ridge, NY.
