Obituary of Helen M. Torre

Helen M. Torre a longtime resident of Westchester County, New York passed away on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 with her family by her side. She was 92.

Helen was born on May 12, 1931 to the late Anna (née Wolchko) and Gabriel Moroch.  She is survived by her children, Barbara Torre Veltri of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dawn Torre Hanna (Richard) of Garden City, New York, Jill Aspinwall (Kevin) of Westbrook, Connecticut, Bob Torre (Renee) of South Salem, New York, Angela Torre McConnell (Todd Del Vecchio) of Los Altos, California, Richard Torre (Clio) of Goshen, Connecticut.

She is preceded in death by her sister Mary (Moroch) Fedonik, and three brothers Peter, Nicholas and George Moroch.

Together with her former husband Robert, Helen raised 6 children in Bronxville, and later, Bedford, New York. 

She was fiercely devoted to her family, including 11 grandchildren. She rarely missed milestone birthdays, school performances, soccer tournaments, and graduation celebrations.

Helen worked as a literacy volunteer for the Yonkers Public School District, a volunteer teacher’s aid at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in New York, and she served as a hospice volunteer. After her children were grown, she was a Photo Researcher for The Reader’s Digest Corporation.

Helen loved to travel and participated in Earthwatch expeditions to Argentina, Australia, Egypt, England and India. She sailed on the QE 2.

Helen’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Dec 6 at St. Patricks RC Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford, NY at 10:00am

Interment will follow at Bedford Union Cemetery, Clinton Road, Bedford, NY

Her generosity to and love of her family knew no bounds. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to a literacy program.
