Here is Moshe Vivian’s nephew son of Yoseph Nachmias Shalom’s brother. I first visited Vivian and Shalom when I was 13 years old, they both took care of me and I had wonderful time. Since that visit I visited them many times and they visited me in Israel. They also visited me at Chicago when I was in relocation for few years. We flew over Chicago with a Sessna and lighted Chanuca kandels with Israeli friends, we had great time together. I will always remember Vivian with a big smile on her face…

I am blessed to have known Vivian and have several lovely memories of her. My favorite revolves an impromptu outing. One weekend afternoon, I was taking my children, Kathryn and Matt, who were close friends with Megan and John, to the Yale Art Gallery. The gallery provided chairs, pads and pencils for anyone who wanted to sketch. I called Jack to see if his kids wanted to join us. He said they would have, but his mom was coming to visit her grandkids. Before long, we were all going to the Gallery. Vivian was positively elated to be sketching with her at a museum alongside her grandchildren. What a wonderful afternoon.

I enjoyed many wonderful conversations with Vivian and especially remember chats at games of her grandchildren. How she adored Megan and Jonathan, saying more than once to me how much she loved being a grandmother. And I am honored to have heard many sweet stories about her beloved children, Jack and Katie, when they were young. Vivian was always warm and positive and so much fun to talk with. Her intellect, caring heart and love of family and life always came through in our conversations. Sending condolences and hugs to her entire family. --Jane

Ah, Viv. We had so many years of tai chi and meditation classes together. (pics from 2004 and Chinese New Year of 2005) And she would stop by our office on a weekday with the “prison puppy” she was helping to socialize with the Puppies Behind Bars organization. Love her dearly.
