Chief Dennis Moynihan (FDNY Battalion 18 Commander),
I was blessed to have know Chief Moynihan. I was fortunate to be assigned to Tower Ladder Co. 58 FDNY in the Bronx in July 2001. Chief Moynihan was the Battalion Commander. He was adored and respected by all around him. His lessons in firefighting were second to none. He loved being a firefighter for the FDNY. My friendship with the Chief, "Dennis" only grew stronger upon realizing we were golf fanatics. The many golf rounds we played were irreplaceable. The mentor (Chief) teaching the student (Myself) lessons of fire tactics, leadership and golf during those rounds will stay with me forever. Chief Moynihan was a staple to the FDNY. He lead with poise yet had command presence at every operation that everyone respect due to his impecable service record and leadership qualities. God Bless you Chief. Thank you for all the wonderful life lessons you passed on. I am in the position I am today because of great men like Chief Moynihan who guided me down the right path. I will never forget you. Rest Easy Sir. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you.
Respectfully,
Lt. Frederick J. ILL, III
