We and our community have lost someone special. Rita was an indefatigable example to us all. Talented singer, teacher, linguist, writer, scholar, wife, mother, friend and more; she was in constant motion touching so many lives along the way. Her generous spirit gives us all an example to which we might aspire to follow but would be challenged to equal. My wife, daughters and I will miss our meals and games and sharing with she and Barry. God bless.

Dear Barry, Douglas and Hayden,
How do you say goodbye to someone who was been part of your families’ lives for nearly forty years?
How do you say goodbye to someone who brightened every one of the days that you were able to spend with her?
You do it with thanks, and you do it with gratitude.
You do it with the hope and knowledge that you will meet again
Thank you for sharing Rita with us and please know how much you and she are cherished.
With Love,
Nancy and Steve Sheridan

I've never met anyone who gave as much pleasure by her mere presence as did Rita. Her vibe simply dispelled all negativity. She showed us how one behaves with dignity and compassion, with understanding and appreciation. She orchestrated the cacophony of our Pawling Shakespeare Club with the élan of a Toscanini, and she never said a word or took an action that wasn't kind. I will miss her terribly, and the greatest honor I can pay her is to try to live by her example. My deepest condolences to you, Barry, and to the rest of the family. You do not mourn alone.

So many memories to share going back to Doug and Louie being kids and being together to going away with you and Barry and Dave and I. And to all our wacky adventures that you never said no to including the Gong Show with our families watching us! Rita you will always be Living Inside My Heart just as our song goes. You are meeting my Dad and you can talk to him about it. Dave and I will miss you terribly as will my family but we will all take good care of Barry, Doug and Hayden as We are Family! Lovingly , Maryann and Dave

My adopted sister and my Sister in Song. There are no words to express why you were taken away too young! I have loved our friendship for over 30 years and all the antics you did with me! People referred to us also as Lucy and Ethel with me of course being the schemer and you the sidekick! Rita you were the most loving and kind person. How am I going to live without my Ethel! But I promise me and my family will be here to be family to yours !

Barry, Be strong and cherish the HAPPY MEMORIES.

Dear Barry and Family,
I do not have words to express my feelings as to the loss of a dear Friend. Rita's smile lit up a room. Her enthusiasm, her exuberance, her sheer joy of working on a new project, made everyone want to jump in and help. She brought new life into our Shakespeare club, she will so very missed by all. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Love
Margaret

Dear Barry, Doug, Hayden,
Our hearts are broken....Rita so loved by us all with her boundless energy and enthusiasm. Rita never met a stranger with her warm generous spirit sharing her home, and bringing all her friends together so they’d know one another. Always the teacher weather presiding over the Shakespeare Club, her Hearts group, tutoring her friends and students or teaching seniors Italian in Ridgefield.
We have so many happy fun memories but some of our favorite times were our spur of the moment dinners, and just being together in each other’s homes often. We always celebrate birthdays, Christmas and Thanksgivings the day after. So comfortable, relaxed and tons of laughter.Kati and Caroline are devastated ....after all they chose you for godparents...during Kati’s graduation in Boston over our special dinner! The day we coined the phrase for our special bond of chosen family. The day we became Framily,
We love you,
Susan, Andy, Kati and Caroline
