Although we just realized that cousin John passed on almost 3 months ago, we would like to now extend our sympathy to the entire family. We remember fun times at the Moore Family Reunions, at Uncle Art's home in West Redding in the 80's. John was a truly friendly and caring man. May he rest in peace. Michael and Jen Moore

I am truly truly so saddened to hear this. I worked in IS under John during the Best Foods era. He was absolutely second to none. Intelligent, funny, witty, a great listener, he pushed you to grow, he instilled great business values, he made you think and really develop yourself to the fullest! He was just such a tremendous leader. He was very serious, but when he smiled or laughed, the whole world smiled with him! Thank God I have many wonderful memories to carry with me. Everyone who knew John knew how much his family meant to him. My prayers are with you. God Bless, Patty Fotzpatrick

My deepest condolences to Mary Ann and family.
I first met John in my interview for a position on his Information Systems team at Bestfoods Baking Company. He enthusiastically pulled binders from his bookshelf to show me what the business was all about, the challenges of producing and distributing huge volumes of perishable product, and the strategic direction of the company’s technology. It was an amazing pitch, and his department was clearly entrenched in all aspects of the business. I was thrilled when John gave me the opportunity. He was a great coach and strategic leader, and working with him was challenging, exciting and rewarding. He took great pride in developing his team and contributing to the company's success. The systems John pioneered remained in place through countless mergers and acquisitions, and support the largest U.S. baking conglomerate to this day. In retirement, John was passionate about family and travel and I always enjoyed hearing from him. I am very fortunate to have had him as a mentor. He will certainly be missed.

John was a wonderful Pa, father-in-law, and father. He has left a big hole in our lives, and words can’t say how he will be missed. I am grateful to be a part of his family, and grateful for all the years my kids (and Rosy) had with their Pa, and the fun and gentle way he always had with them. He will be missed and remembered with love, always.

A wonderful husband, father, and father-in-law to my daughter Dana. A fantastic "Pa" to his grandchildren who adored him. A real pleasure and privilege to have known him.

This is my third try and by now the story may not even be funny! My memories of John are many but the story I am trying to tell keeps disappearing! Three strikes and you're out!
John had a great sense of humor so I think he may be laughing at me now! I remember when John and Mary Ann were visiting me in Annapolis as overnight guests! At that time my cat was young and very antisocial! It was the middle of the night and the house was quiet except for John and "Sunkist"! John left the guestroom for a while and when he tried to return he found Sunkist hissing and meowing like a guard dog and barricading the door! John couldn't get back into the guestroom! He laughingly told the story the next morning of how he took a running leap over the cat and landed on the bed! Hopefully he slept without further aggravation!
John was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather! He will be missed! As Fiona said: He is a shining star in heaven!
Love,
Nancy

I am so sorry for the loss of such a great man, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed. One of my favorite memories of my Uncle John was coming to visit when I was a child and looking forward to him making his "specialty" hamburgers over an open fire pit that he made out of rocks in the back yard. Boy, I could sure go for one of those now. His were the best!

I am truly saddened to hear of John’s passing. Mary Ann is my maternal Aunt and 2nd Mom. I always enjoyed visiting John and Mary Ann ever since I was little. Lots of good memories of visits in Somers, Annapolis, York and
later years in Sarasota where I have lived for 30 years. I have included a photo of us all here in Sarasota in 2006 enjoying a seafood dinner on the water. I will remember John’s good nature, advise , our talks and his love. RIP John I love you.
