It may be strange to leave a message after so long, but I have only just found out about the deaths of Libby and Bob. Covid and other events are among the reasons. My father, Thomas Oppe was Libby's Doctor in 1949 when she survived TB. As part of the bond between Doctor and patient Libby was made my God mother after I was born in 1953. I can remember going to Libby and Bob's wedding in 1961. Great excitement for an 8 year old!
Libby took her duty as Godmother seriously and remained in touch by phone. We last met in 2016 when my wife and I were in New York for the tennis Open.
Libby will be remembered very fondly as a Godmother who took her duties seriously. With all my love to the family.

My wife, Laura, and I had the honor of first meeting Ms. Libby at Saint Luke’s Church, Somers, in 2007. Her capacity for love and joy was immediately obvious, and her kindness and concern for others always at the forefront. She was also one of the strongest and wittiest souls I’ve ever known. I’ve seen her crack jokes and remain positive in the face of health setbacks that would cause most to falter. Not Ms. Libby.
Our heartfelt love and prayers go out to Bob, their daughters and their beautiful families, and her loving caregivers. One of the coziest areas in Bob and Libby’s home is a hallway of photos with numerous images of family adventures. It was always such a joy to walk the hall, hear the stories behind the photos and watch Libby light up when talking about her family, past and present.
Memories of her spirit and love will remain with us forever. Peace be unto her and all who love her.

I have known Bob and Libby for close to 20 years, I am their hairdresser. When she was not able to get out so easily about 14 years ago I started doing Libby’s hair at home. I enjoyed seeing her twice a week and being welcomed into their home and seeing their life up close. We shared many memories we laughed and even cried at times. Libby enjoyed having her hair done and I loved how it always cheered her up. Bob and his family are in my prayers and I am so sorry for their loss. Xoxo

As the Priest at St Luke’s Somers, I will always cherish the memory of Libby on the front row, smiling, singing, greeting all who came to worship. I was at her side through her last days and witnessed the love of her from all of her family, friends and caregivers. There is no greater faith than that which Libby had. It carried her through life, and is a great example for me, even in difficult times. It will be, I believe, one of my greatest honors, to celebrate her life next Monday. Father Mike Watson+

Libby was one of my very best friends. I met Libby through Kentfield Rehab hospital after her stroke in 1998(?). I was one of her PTs in hospital. I was hired to come to their home in Belvedere where I was adopted into her world, first as a visiting PT but eventually as a twice weekly companion. I was hired by Bob to keep her safe while getting her out and about to enjoy her daily life in Belvedere. I was immediately smitten with the sweet woman who taught me about knitting, the love of tea and shortbread biscuits, and the importance of family and friend connectedness. The pleasure of knowing Mr. Bob was an added bonus. What a wonderful and doting husband he was. Nothing he wouldn’t do for Libby or his family. The two of them were like family to me, like another set of loving parents. Together we flew on the Concorde to England so I could assist Libby as she enjoyed her niece’s wedding. It was funny to be referred to as “the American nurse”. Through the years we always kept in touch. I was so happy to bring my family to Katonah for a visit in May of 2018. Bob and Libby and their wonderful house staff made sure to have so many fun toys and games available for my daughters to enjoy. It was important to them that my girls were entertained and that meant so much to my family. For me Libby was nothing but love, sweetness, and sunshine and I will miss her terribly. Rest in peace dear Libby, I love you always. Annie (the human, not the cat)
