I have fond memories of going to the Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco with my family as a young child. I loved listening to Patrick Clancy sing and play the accordion. Being in that environment, feeling the warm hearted community, hearing the charming Irish accents, my spirit lifted by the Irish music and humor - this was such a lovely experience for me. I remember watching Patrick perform on stage and feeling “special”, like I belonged there - partly because my mom and Iris were such dear friends, and partly because everyone was made to feel that they belonged. This was one of the happiest memories from my childhood. The memory comes to me often, and always brings a smile to my face.
My thoughts and love are with Iris and Liadain and Mimi (as I knew her in those days). May wonderful memories help ease your sadness during this difficult time.
