Obituary of Monica Mary Ahrens

On April 9th, 2022, Monica Mary Ahrens passed away peacefully in her home in Bedford at the age of 71.

 

Monica was born on October 17, 1950 in Riverdale, NY to Madeleine and the late William Oswald.

 

She grew up in Marycrest, West Nyack and attended Albertus Magnus High School where she met the love of her life, Robert Ahrens.

 

She studied English Literature at Marymount Manhattan College and graduated in 1972.

 

Monica and Robert were married on December 14, 1974.

 

Monica worked as an editor at the Practicing Law Institute in New York City before moving to Westchester to raise her family.

 

Monica is the beloved wife of Robert and is the loving mother of David, Molly (Seth) Hirschel, Gus (Andrea) and Bobby.

Monica is the devoted grandmother of Colin and Charlotte Hirschel, Mackenzie, Barrett and Crosby Ahrens.

 

She is the dearest sister of William (Denise) Oswald, Stephen Oswald, Therese (John) Curran, Clare (Tom, deceased) Weber, Mark Oswald, Thomas (Bari) Oswald, Madeleine (Peter) Gordon, Michael (Marilyn) Oswald.

 

Monica is also survived by her mother Madeleine Oswald and many nieces and nephews all of whom she cherished.

Monica made the world a better place…

 

Friends are invited to visit the family at Clark Associates Funeral home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Tuesday, April 12th from 4-8 pm.

 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford, NY on Wednesday, April 13th at 10 am followed by interment at St. Francis Cemetery, 236 Lexington Ave, Mt. Kisco, NY.
