A lovely lady. Irish dancing in America owes a lot to Joan Cass. My own teacher, Margaret Pike, loved their style and did her best to pass it on to all her dancers. Rest in peace and condolences to Joan, Anne and Eileen.

Joan was a judge at Torrington Feis for many, many years. Her professionalism and reliability cemented that relationship. Over the years, we also became friends - as happened with all her Irish Dance acquaintances. That big, wide smile, her warm-heartedness, and her cheerfulness won everyone over. Joan always had an encouraging and perceptive word about the feis, or advice about dancers, all without a hint of condescension. Whenever I’d be at an Irish Dance event, and Joan was there too, it was a pleasant surprise. In all the hub-bub, we’d usually have cozy chats - now to cherish. We’ll miss her. Condolences to Joanie and all the family.
